Happy New Nose

Well we rang in the New Year in style. McD was in a big old funk (like he usually is at around that time of night after an early shift) and was heading for bed at 8pm but H-bomb was having none of it. Secretly I loved the little ratbag for playing up at bedtime because it meant that we got to all lay in the bed together pretending to look for fireworks out of the front window. Well H and I did anyway, McD snoozed on beside us but it didn’t matter, we were all together as a family for New Years Eve. Even Susie was sat in the window growling away at the fireworks. We did actually see a couple of the earlier shows, somebody in Milton let theirs off at about 9ish so H and I sat there and shouted out all the colours. I told McD that next year I want to have a NYE party here and he actually said okay! H fell asleep at 10.20 and I carried him off to his own bed and settled him in. I must have dosed off because I was woken up at midnight by all of the fireworks, I sat in the front window watching and actually contemplated waking H up so he could see. In the end I left him asleep, we have plenty more fireworks to look forward to in the future.

Before H fell asleep he wanted to call nanny. I told him to wish her a happy new year but he got a little confused and wished her a “happy new nose.” We rolled around in fits of giggles at this. It’s just another reminder of my boy’s stellar personality which he gets from his mama of course. But I think that might be my NYE saying from now on… “happy new nose everybody!”
