The Sun of my Solar System

Today my mum had a near death experience, she choked on a roast potato. Now I know some of you might not think this is such a big deal but to me it is. And it certainly was to her. Thank God she vomited and the potato came free. I wasn’t there at the time, my dad was in the opposite side of the house and grandad wouldn’t be able to help her, as much as he would want to, he has very little movement in his arms and none at all in his legs. But my mums first thought was for grandad. As the potato was lodged in her throat restricting her breathing she worried what would happen to my grandad if she wasn’t here to look after him. Now that’s love. After the ordeal mum is fine, she has a very sore throat and was left very shaken, she had to lock herself into her bathroom (yeah that’s right my mums got her own bathroom lol) to have a good cry. But it made me think of how much we all rely on my mum. She provides 24hour care for my grandad, getting up early to change him, changing him regularly throughout the day, feeding him, repositioning him so he doesn’t get pressure sores, bathes him, cuts his hair, cuts his nails, puts him to bed, ensures he has just enough stimulation to entertain him but not enough to frighten him and most importantly she loves him. She also looks after H-bomb while I’m out at college, which she loves doing as they are partners in crime. My nan used to be the sun of our solar system, when nan died mum assumed this role and she does it well. I hope when it’s my turn to step up to the mark I do as good a job as my mum is doing. Our family would not be a family without her ❤️

I’ll leave you with my favourite pic of my mum and I, see if you can see a resemblance lol!
