Organ Donation

Have you ever considered donating your organs? Before I became a parent I had this rather selfish idea that I needed to be buried with all of my organs, the very thought of having them removed, even after death, left me feeling queasy. But since becoming a parent my views have changed completely. According to the NHS organ donation website one person can save several people’s lives, wouldn’t you want this for your family member if they needed it? I know I would, and so because I would receive an organ transplant I now understand the importance in donating my organs. I had a conversation about it with my family last night, I can’t remember what got us on the subject but I told them that if anything happened to McD and I then we both want to donate our organs, and the same goes for our boy. I hope and pray I never ever have to worry about it but at least I could be sure that our organs would stop another family from having to suffer the loss of a loved one. And that’s what’s important!

And if that’s not enough then check out Sammi’s story. Sammi suffers from Cystic Fibrosis and underwent a double lung transplant in 2002 and received a kidney from her dad in 2005. Thanks to these transplants Sammi has been able to live a relatively normal life.

So if you know me personally… These are my wishes, laid out for all to see in my blog :) I shall leave you with the very thing that has been behind this thought process… My world
