Today is my first ‘real’ full day at big school. 10 whole hours to be precise. This is the first step in realising my dream of becoming a teacher. I don’t do emotion filled posts often but here ya go. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for the love and support of my mum and McD.
Firstly my mum is such a huge inspiration to me. She raised six children wonderfully and also managed to carve out an awesome career for herself. Her drive and determination are what inspire me to succeed. We weren’t well off growing up, but we never went without in both love and possessions. We were never fed convenience food and were always smartly dressed. And my mum managed to achieve the top of her field. Yet when we needed her, she gave up her amazing career to become my grandads full time, live in carer. She gave up the home she (and my dad) had created over two decades to move to where grandad was comfortable and she never (well hardly ever) complains. She’s a legend.
And secondly, I have the support of McD. He is such an awesome daddy to H-bomb and I know sometimes I take this for granted. He is so patient and understanding and pretty much gives me free reign with things. He works really hard at a job that he doesn’t really enjoy anymore because it’s a steady job. He does this so that I can achieve my dream. Sometimes I moan that he’s not romantic but that’s love right there. He puts my needs before his own. And he pulls most of the night shifts with our boy nowadays as he knows his snoring keeps me awake. And he makes me coffee in the mornings when I’m grumpy and miserable. We had a bit of a blip a couple of months ago but since then we have come back stronger than ever. These two boys are my reason for breathing (and the reason I’m broke)!
And there’s others of course, my aunty Kerry for being the best and coolest aunty ever. My dad for raising me as his own no matter what and for being Harry’s ‘grandad mark.’ And of course my little brother, he’s got a HUGE brain… He is the smartest person I know, I know that if I am ever stuck on something he will know the answer or at least help me to work it out. He’s the person I sent my essay (to gain a place on this course) to before I handed it in. He’s the best brother a girl could ask for, pretty much because he’s the male version of me!
If you haven’t gathered from all of my other blog posts, family is the most important thing to me.
