FYI Mrs Hall!

Dear Mrs hall.

Firstly let me congratulate you, your blog post has reached little old me, all the way in sunny England! Good job!!! And secondly I’d like to tell you how much you remind me of my ex mother in law. There’s a reason she’s my ex mother in law! There’s a reason why I divorced my ex husband and moved away from that family. Because they had very antiquated views on how life should be and so it sounds, from the content of your blog post, do you.

It is clear to see that from the way you have written your post you have seen a picture on your sons Facebook and you are writing this as an letter directly to that girl while leaving her name out. This has now gone viral and she’ll probably read it. Your sons other friends probably saw that photo and they probably know who this girl is. So kudos to you for setting this young adolescent girl up for a shed load of humiliation and bullying. Because you know how kids are right? They’re cruel. I hope that your post doesn’t cause this girl to continue through her already hormonal and emotionally charged teenage years feeling self conscious about herself because of one bra-less pyjama shot she posted on her own Facebook page. I hope that she’s the kind if girl who sees you for who you really are; an overbearing mother who will be one of ‘those’ mother in laws, you know, the kind where no one is ever good enough for her son.

I have a son myself, he’s 2 and a half going on 20 and believe me when I say I can see some of what you are getting at, I just think the way you are going about it is wrong, in my honest opinion of course! Now I get that teenage girls are posting semi naked trout pout shots of themselves and walking the streets in teeny tiny outfits, but if their parents are happy for them to do this then who are you to judge? And let me tell you that boys are no better! You might think you are protecting your Hall boys by blocking these girls on their Facebook pages, but I promise you there will be a time when you check your Internet history (as I can imagine this is something you do on a regular basis) and you see a porn site. How far will you go in your attempts to stop your precious Hall boys from seeing what every other teenage boy sees?

Now I like to think that when my boy reaches his teenage years, his dad and I will have helped him to develop into a mature young man. Mature enough to not require us to block perfectly normal girls from his Facebook feed. I like to think that he will respect all women, not just the ones who don’t post those ‘wrapped in a towel’ shots. I also like to think that when seeing a teenage girl in a towel he won’t automatically think of having sex with her, he will think “yo, Chelsea’s just got out of the bath!”

I had quite a relaxed childhood when it came to this kind of thing. My parents were cool about it and I believe that because of this I have been able to talk to my parents about everything. Even sex! I don’t automatically think of having sex with a guy when I see him with his shirt off! I didn’t automatically think of having sex with the guy out of that pic that went viral recently, you know the one where his jeans were so tight you could see tho whole of his junk! I just looked and looked away!

Shame on you Mrs hall for taking something that is the norm in today’s society and pulling it to pieces. To be perfectly honest though, I think you have only damaged your families reputation by doing this and if I had a teenage daughter I would be telling her to steer well clear of the Hall boys for fear that their relationship might work out and she would be stuck with a monster in law that would give Jane Fonda a run for her money!

Your sincerely

Miss c!
